About Time

Time is infinite but there is never enough of it.

Time is measured by clocks.  Inside old clocks there are wheels and gears than turn to measure time.

Time travels at diverse paces with diverse persons.

Time and the hour run through the roughest day.

Time is our master.  We are its subjects.

Time goes, you say?  Ah! no, time stays, we go.

We always wish for the Golden Hour where happiness will be, or the miracle will happen.

  1. My favorite line "Time is infinite but there is never enough of it." So true!
To me it gives the impression of something solid because of the grid construction, but at the same time it's delicate and fleeting with the sheer fabrics. Great job, Alicia.

  2. Thank you! I did forget to put the making details. It is in fact made from commercial silk organzas, two layers, no wadding, using the pojagi technique, and Thermofax printing with acrylic paints. It is 27" by 27". This photograph is against a white wall; the transparency can be seen when photographed with light behind, but then you don't see the words so clearly.

  3. Very hard to photograph silk organza Alicia. I like the connection of your material choice to the time concept and the pojagi seaming give that wonderful secondary design line. The 'golden hour'- love it.

  4. What a great piece Alicia; I'd love to see it lit from behind. I also love "Time is infinite but there is never enough of it." and I am constantly reminded that I am time's slave!

  5. Time is such an interesting concept - elusive and defined - pojagi is sort of like that. A great way to interpret it! Would love to see it backlit. I'm sure it's beautiful, especially with that red!

  7. Thank you all! I loved all the pieces in this challenge - so different, so thoughtful, so interesting. And the comments too - really worth reading - an exchange of thoughts and feelings that I have never got from a group before. I am delighted to be here, and I look forward to the next challenge!
